New Boys & Girls Club in Menifee

Boys and girls | Menifee, CAYour kids are bored. They need activities to do after school, on the weekends, and in the summer. But if they’re not into sports and they don’t take piano, what should they do?

Fortunately, there will now be a Boys & Girls Club in Menifee, California! The club will be headquartered out of the former Menifee Elementary School. There have been Boys & Girls Clubs in Temecula and Murrieta, but now Menifee residents don’t have to shuttle their kids back and forth to these other cities.

The club opened in December with a “Family Day” event that included food, music, bounce houses, and other children’s activities. Residents were given the opportunity to sign up for programs and apply to be volunteers.

Annual membership in the Boys & Girls Club is $25, though participation in certain programs is extra. The first program offered is a co-ed basketball league for ages 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.

The Menifee chapter hopes to have a before-and-after-school program with bus transportation available soon. According to Board Member Bill Zimmerman, “Parents have had a burden (if) their kids get out of school at 3 in the afternoon and if they don’t get off work until 5. This provides a brand new opportunity for parents to be able to have their kids picked up.”

The club’s program would allow kids to be able to participate in fun, safe activities with others their own age. Already, the club’s headquarters have set up Ping-Pong, foosball, and air hockey tables in the game room.

The Menifee Boys & Girls Club is looking for donations of books, board games, sports equipment, and televisions, so please consider donating any of these items.

If you have kids and live in the Menifee area, I encourage you to sign your kids up for the Boys & Girls Club!
